Dell Latitude XT2, el segundo Tablet PC de Dell

El anuncio del Latitude XT de Dell fue recibido por muchos como la llegada definitiva del Tablet PC “Bueno, Bonito y Barato” que todos queremos, sentimiento aplastado y aniquilado cuando llegamos a su precio, que llega fácilmente a los US$2.500 (1.124.100 CLP | 1.617,8 € | 26.797,5 MXN).

Ahora Dell parece estar trabajando en un sucesor a su primera incursión en el mercado de Tablets, que llevaría el nombre de Latitude XT2 y utilizaría la nueva plataforma Centrino Montevina de Intel a través de un procesador de bajo (o ultra-bajo) voltaje. Los gráficos estarían a cargo de un nuevo chip gráfico integrado de la compañía azul e incluiría puertos de red, Firewire, dos USB 2.0 y uno eSATA para discos duros externos. Entre sus datos finales tenemos una salida de video VGA, un puerto de expansión ExpressCard y un lector de tarjetas SDHC.

Una de las grandes dudas en torno al Latitude XT2 será si incluirá una unidad óptica, algo que el XT original no tiene, y al parecer ni siquiera Dell tiene muy claro si podrá estrujar una o no dentro del cuerpo de 1,6 kg del XT2.

Dell shows off its second-generation Tablet PC

Dell's Latitude XT was met with great anticipation when specs for the device first leaked in May of 2007. Interest began to dwindle somewhat, however, when Dell announced the $2,499 starting price for its first entry into the Tablet PC arena.

The current generation Latitude XT makes use of Intel Core 2 Solo and Core 2 Duo processors and ATI's Radeon X1250 mobile graphics core. The Tablet features a 12.1" WXGA display that can be had with traditional CCFL or LED backlighting.

Connectivity options abound with Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 802.11n and optional HSDPA/EVDO support. Users also have access to three USB 2.0 ports.

Dell isn't resting on its laurel with the Latitude XT -- Engadget managed to get its hands on a computer-generated image and specs for the XT's successor: the Latitude XT2.

Nuevos Sony VAIO “Splash” con un toque de color

Sony es asiduo a hacer engendros del diseño con sus notebooks normalmente formales, y es así como terminamos con ideas como los Graphic Splash Eco Edition, los Graphic Splah Maya Hayuk, o más recientemente, los Sony VAIO “Splash”, basados en los tradicionales VAIO FZ con pantalla de 15,4″.

A primera vista, los Splash se caracterizan por sus cubiertas en diseños “Victorian lace” (Lazo Victoriano), “flora” y “leaf” (hoja) en colores rosado, azul, y negro, para un total de nueve combinaciones posibles. Sin embargo, los VAIO Splash también tienen una carta bajo la manga, teclados impresos con letras en ciertos tipos de fuente “artísticas”, por si las típicas ya te empiezan a aburrir.

Entre los detalles finales de esta oferta tenemos la posibilidad de encargarlos con un engravado especial, su limitada disponiblidad (sólo son 1.200 equipos) y un precio que parte de los US$1.300 (592.900 CLP | 854,4 € | 13.876,2 MXN).


Sony Vaios try to make a 'Splash'

Amid the parade of Sony products announced this morning, it might be easy to get lost in the crowd--unless you happen to be clad in floral patterns of bright pink and blue.


That's how Sony's Vaio laptops tried to stand apart, anyway, in the latest iteration of its "Graphic Splash Expression Collection." Despite the ornate names of the newest crop--which include "Victorian Lace" and "Flora"--it's actually quite subdued compared with earlier releases that boasted leopard prints and giant polka dots.

The patterns and colors can be mixed and matched, and personal engraving is free for the 1,200 laptops in this limited edition. But perhaps its most distinguishing aspect is under the hood: The keyboards can be customized with three new designer fonts. Other than that, the 15.4-inch widescreen laptops have the usual run of Vaio specs and options.

Todos sabemos que en Japón son fanáticos del sushi, sake, karaoke, monstruos gigantes y robots. Mi favorito era Ultraman peleando con uno de esos monstruos gigantes de 2 cabezas. Aún se pueden encontrar unas cuantas buenas peleas de Ultraman en youtube.

Bueno, volviendo a los de los robots, Softbank acaba de lanzar el nuevo celular Toshiba 815T PB clamshell. Los más interesante es su aspecto de robot transformer.

Este es un equipo diseñado para promocionar una nueva serie de TV que se está lanzando en el país del sol naciente. El equipo es 3G con una cámara de 3.2 megapixeles, auto focus y un display QVGA.





Mecha-like 3G Phone Launched In Japan

Everyone knows that Japan is the land of sushi, sake, giant monsters and transforming robots. Softbank has miniaturized the robot part with its new Toshiba 815T PB clamshell cell phone. This is a full 3D handset, featuring a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus and a QVGA display. It looks rather weird with all the limbs displayed in full glory, but at least you no longer need to be content with those 80s TMNT action figures sitting miserably on your desk. I like the way the cell phone's display is used to show the face of your robot. Would be better if those limbs contained some sort of functionality instead of being mere add-ons.
